These canine myths need to be dispelled! Perhaps it will change your view on how you see your pooch!
1. You Can’t Teach An Old Dog New Tricks
Older dogs learn fast than puppies because all of their faculties are developed and they’ve already found ways to communicate with humans. Teaching an old dog a new trick is very rewarding and stimulating for dogs.
2. Dogs Are Color Blind
While they can’t see the same amount of colors that human eyes can, they can see color. They are red-green color blind only and can see a brighter less detailed world than people.
3. Dogs Scoot On Their Bum Across The Floor To Be Funny
Dogs will generally only scoot across the floor if they have worms or an anal gland issue. If your dog is doing this they should see a vet.
4. Top Dog
When dogs hump another dog it’s not because they are being sexual but rather they are asserting dominance. Both male and female dogs (fixed and unfixed) will do this as a way to show they are the boss.
5. Shelter Dogs Are Damaged Goods
There are endless reasons why dogs end up in shelters. From the death of an owner to families that have outgrown their interest in having a dog. While some dogs end up in shelters have been abused and need a caring owner to help them learn and trust again, most dogs are your average dog who just fell on hard times at no fault of their own.
